There were many reasons for Jose Mourinho to be happy following Manchester United’s 4-0 win over Yeovil Town in the FA Cup fourth round.
Alexis Sanchez’s debut went extremely well, there were four different goalscorers and 17-year-old Angel Gomes came off the bench and made an instant impact.
Sanchez was on everyone’s mind last night and Man United supporters were impressed with what they saw from their new signing.
The Chilean created the first two goals and was constantly looking to unlock Yeovil’s defence.
It was also a great night for Jesse Lingard, who continued his fine form with United’s third goal.
Lingard bickered with Piers Morgan this week
The 25-year-old has spent the week bickering with Piers Morgan on Twitter following Sanchez’s move from Arsenal.
“He’s taking your place sunshine, enjoy the bench. 😂😂,” Morgan tweeted Lingard after the Man United attacker welcomed Sanchez to Old Trafford.
Lingard has trolled Morgan with Sanchez tweet
Well, Lingard has had the last laugh by expertly trolling Morgan on Twitter after the win.
The England international shared a photo of himself with Sanchez, writing: “Congratulations on your debut 💫🔥 No Milly Rock Tonight But Soon Land 🕺 @Alexis_Sanchez”.
And eagled-eyed United supporters spotted Lingard tagging Morgan in the tweet.
Mourinho: We were professional
Man United have already been embarrassed by lower opposition in the cup this season, losing to Bristol City in the Carabao Cup, but there was no way that was going to happen last night.
It simply came down to Man United’s attitude which, fortunately for Mourinho, was spot on. They didn’t underestimate Yeovil, who are currently 21st in League Two, and produced a professional performance.
"These matches are difficult if the attitude is not correct [and] even if it is correct," Mourinho said at full-time, per Goal.
“We were professional and, winning 1-0, we had control of the game, we had possession, space for transitions and more quality and we killed the game."
BBC pundit Jermaine Jenas heaped praise on Sanchez after the match, saying the Chilean will be "delighted" with the start he's made at Man United.
"Players have to up their game and they're excited about playing with Alexis Sanchez," Jenas said on BBC Radio 5 Live. "I'm not surprised to hear Mourinho saying he'll have a problem because he wants to play every minute of every game.
"He just wants to play football and he makes those passes in the final third. He keeps his head and takes that extra second, as we saw with the second goal."News Now - Sport News
