All eyes were on Alexis Sanchez last night as the Chilean made his debut for Manchester United.Cameras were on Sanchez from the moment he left the Man United team bus after arriving at Huish Park to the moment he stepped back on it following a 4-0 win over Yeovil Town. The bit in between was rather impressive, too.Sanchez was named in Jose Mourinho’s starting line-up, deployed on the left wing, and he was a constant threat for 72 minutes before coming off.He had 97 touches of the ball, two shots and created six chances, two of which resulted in goals. As far as debuts go, Sanchez’s was a strong one.“I’m very happy [with Sanchez’s performance] but after over three years in the Premier League, playing every week, everyone knows what Alexis is about,” Mourinho assessed at full-time.

“A fantastic player. He showed that and he is an amazing addition for us.”

What does Sanchez signing mean for Rashford?

Sanchez’s presence in the starting XI resulted in Jesse Lingard being named on the bench and it’s clear that somebody is going to be left unhappy by the Chilean’s arrival.

Many expect that player to be Marcus Rashford, who certainly hasn’t played at Lingard or Anthony Martial’s level this season.

Shearer has a message for Rashford

The England international started and scored against Yeovil and in the opinion of Alan Shearer, he’s now got to prove to Mourinho that he deserves to be one of the three attackers starting each week.

Gary Lineker posed the situation to Shearer, saying: “Lineker: “I suppose one thing with someone like that coming in is, you start to think is Rashford is going to get enough opportunities…”

Shearer’s response was emphatic.

“As players, you’ve got an option,” he said on the BBC. “You either sit and sulk and think, ‘hang on, he’s brought this top quality player in.’

“Or you roll your sleeves up and you say, ‘you know what, I’m going to be that other player. Lukaku will start, Sanchez will start, I want to be and I’m going to be the other one.”

You listening, Marcus?
