Besides the fact that he gave the ball away 31 times, Alexis Sanchez’s debut left Manchester United supporters eager for more. The Chilean was at the heart of everything Man United did going forwards and he set up the opening two goals in a 4-0 win over Yeovil Town.He offered the Red Devils a spark that has often been lacking this season."He can be very, very pleased with his night's work. I thought he was the best player for Manchester United. Most of the good things started with him," BBC pundit Alan Shearer said about Sanchez’s display.“That's Mourinho complete now going forward. There was something lacking in that forward line, he's now got that."Jose Mourinho has taken a huge step in closing the talent gap in his squad compared to Manchester City’s and the second half of the season should give an indication of whether next year’s title race will be a competitive one. That’s how important Sanchez’s arrival is.

Sanchez was named MOTM - Fowler disagreed

The 29-year-old, who arrived from Arsenal on Monday, was named Man of the Match by Martin Keown, who was on commentary duty for BBC, following his showing at Huish Park.

Yet Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler disagreed completely with Keown’s pick, jokingly suggesting the former Arsenal defender had some money on Sanchez to scoop the award.

“Martin Keown deffo had a little wager on Sanchez to be MoM… Rashford all day long,” Fowler tweeted.

Mourinho: Sanchez brings extra maturity

Rashford scored the opening goal and Fowler was probably impressed by the desire he showed to capitalise on some confusion in the Yeovil box.

But even Mourinho admitted after the match that Sanchez can do things that Rashford just doesn’t offer.

“[Sanchez’s] choice for the second goal is the kind of choice that a player like Marcus is still too nervous to make that kind of decision,” Mourinho said.

“He will bring us this extra maturity."

The signing of Sanchez appears to spell bad news for Rashford but at least he has a fan in Fowler.
