Deontay Wilder has caused a Twitter storm to erupt among those in the boxing world after declaring he thinks "he would kick the hell out of 1986 Mike Tyson."Strong reactions from fans and boxing enthusiasts came swiftly, however one of the most notable responses came from one of the few people on earth who can actually say they came out victorious against the feared Iron Mike.Lennox Lewis was quick to offer his rebuttal after seeing Wilder make his outlandish comments. Lewis is one of the few men who bested the legendary American boxer, albeit towards the latter stages of Tyson's career in 2002.Wilder's comments are not necessarily surprising, as the outspoken 32-year-old has never exactly been short of confidence. With an undefeated record of 39-0 its easy to see where 'The Bronze Bomber' is coming from, however, the 1986 iteration of Mike Tyson was, in the simplest terms: a stone-cold killer.Tyson clinched his first world title in 1986 and had won the first 19 fights of his professional career via knockout, with 12 coming in the first round.Search results of Tyson's highlights from early in his career show a plethora of compilation videos being created by admirers, all showing the devastating effect Tyson had on his foes.Kid Dynamite, as Tyson was known in the early part in his career, at 178 cm was actually quite small for a heavyweight but it just made every knockout produced seem all the more violent. So it only seems fair that someone who actually managed to get the better of Tyson has his say on Wilder's bold claim. And he perfectly shut him down in two tweets. The 52-year-old posted: "I just heard @BronzeBomber said he would destroy a young @MikeTyson. My thoughts are that it’s easy to talk until u actually get in the ring. I like Wilder but he’s never been in there with someone that ferocious who truly wants to break his ribs with every punch. I don’t see it!"

"I love @BronzeBomber’s confidence... u need that to sit atop the heavyweight division... he’s hungry and shows up in probably best shape in division... but there’s levels to it... and he’s still adding to his arsenal."

Indeed, few people in the world can say first hand what it's like to be at the other end of a Tyson uppercut, and Lewis is one of them.

It is this fact that seems to irk the former champion as he doesn't see the point in comparing the two because such a question will never actually be answered anyway.

"My best advice to the entire crop of young heavyweight champs is to focus on being the best of YOUR era! Out of respect and reality. It’s unprovable. Of course ppl asked, but I found no need to speculate or compare myself to my idol Ali or any other of the past greats.

"History will decide your place among the all time greats... so go out there, clean up the division, defend your title, reign supreme and your work will speak for itself."

Undoubtedly a mic drop statement from the boxing Hall of Famer and Wilder would be wise to listen to one of his predecessors.
