Joel Embiid and Russell Westbrook are two of the most polarizing NBA superstars for two simple reasons: they’re incredible players and they aren’t afraid to show their true emotions.Fortunately for basketball fans everywhere, the two have established a rivalry full of trolling and pettiness, perfect for today’s social media-driven reactions by the basketball community. The beef between the reigning MVP and Embiid began back in December when Westbrook led the Thunder to a 119-117 victory over the Sixers.Earlier in that game, Embiid waved goodbye toward the crowd when Oklahoma City center Steven Adams fouled out. Westbrook, who finished with an insane triple-double of 27 points, 18 rebounds and 15 assists, mocked Embiid after the final whistle, smiling and waving at him.“I told him to go home,” Westbrook admitted to reporters after the game.

Embiid clapped back, saying, “He told me to go home. I mean this is my home, so I guess it’s time for him to go home. They won the game, I give them a lot of credit, he did a lot of things, but the dude shot like 10 of 33. I wish I would have shot 33 times, I guess we would have had a better chance of actually winning the game. But you know, he told me to go home, and this is my home and I ain’t going nowhere.”

Therefore, when the two players squared off again on Sunday, emotions were at an all-time high.

In the first quarter, Embiid got the best of Westbrook in what was one of the most disrespectful and amazing dunks of the season so far. Take a look:

Westbrook tried to take a charge, but instead got thrown to the ground on the receiving end of a massive poster dunk. Embiid took off extremely far away from the hoop, but his athleticism and massive wingspan allowed him to slam it down.

At the end of the second quarter, Westbrook got some revenge with a wild dunk of his own, but unfortunately for him, Embiid wasn’t involved.

Most importantly, the Thunder earned another win and continued their hot streak. Hilariously, the pettiness continued until the final whistle when Westbrook appeared to dribble out the clock while staring right at Embiid, who was standing on the opponent’s bench.

After the game, Embiid wasn’t done, though. Check out the location of the Instagram picture that he posted.

The Thunder and Sixers unfortunately don’t play again during the regular season, but there’s always a chance that Westbrook and Embiid continue their trash-talking ways into the All-Star Game, where they’ll face off on opposite squads.
