Arsenal’s top-four hopes took a massive blow on Tuesday night after their 3-1 defeat to Swansea at the Liberty Stadium.Despite Nacho Monreal giving the away side a first-half lead, a brace from Sam Clucas and Jordan Ayew’s goal gave the relegation-threatened side a crucial three points. But it was that Ayew goal that was the all-important one. With the score level at 1-1, Petr Cech completely scuffed his clearance with the ball falling straight to Ayew inside the box, who made no mistake.Arsenal just couldn’t recover from the shock of conceding that ridiculous goal and went on to concede a third late on.Unsurprisingly, Gooners were furious with their goalkeeper and called on the club to replace the 35-year-old.However, it seems the former Chelsea ‘keeper still has some fans.

WHY CARVALHAL ASKED FOR CECH'S SHIRT

That’s because the Swansea manager, Carlos Carvalhal, was tasked with getting Cech’s shirt after the match for his 20-year-old son.

"I must tell you that my son, he is 20 years old, and he is a big football fan," said Carvalhal.

"He has never asked me for a shirt of a player before, but for this game he ask if I could try and get a shirt of Petr Cech.

"I said that I do not know Petr so it will be diffiuclt.

"But he is a great goalkeeper and a good man and he very kindly gave me his shirt and I have got it."

Of course, considering his performance, Cech could have easily refused but, like the true gent he is, gave his jersey to Carvalhal on the pitch after the game.

But Cech was so upset by his error that he took to Twitter after the defeat to apologise to the Arsenal fans.

He wrote: “Although mistakes are part of the game I always expect 100 % from myself and I’m not happy with the one I made today ... back to work tomorrow!”

WENGER ON ARSENAL'S MISTAKES

And Wenger was so furious with the goals his side conceded that he refused to speak about them after the game.

"I felt defensively we were very poor and made big mistakes. It's better not to talk about the second or third goals," admitted Wenger.

"Swansea were sharp, disciplined and hungry. Unfortunately, I believe we were not good enough, I believe we were not disciplined enough."
