Manchester United had an evening to forget at Wembley Stadium last night and it only took 11 seconds for the wheels to fly off.

A trip to Tottenham is never the easiest challenge, but Jose Mourinho had barely made himself comfortable by the time Christian Eriksen fired Spurs into the lead. Fast forward 28 minutes and it was 2-0 as Phil Jones put through his own net under the famous arch.

Mourinho lamented after the game: "I don't think it is very normal to concede a goal like we did after 15 seconds. It is especially ridiculous because the players, they watch it before, we analyse opponents and work on opponents' dynamics and routines.

"The players they knew the long ball, they knew that Harry Kane - before the kick-off, is already inside the opponent's half. We knew everything.

"Then we don't press the ball - one mistake. We don't pick the ball in the air - second mistake. We don't win the second ball on the ground - third mistake. We don't cover the inside when Eriksen comes - four mistakes."

Phil Jones delivers nightmarish performance v Spurs

Some journalists and supporters even went as far as claiming it was one of United's worst performances since Louis van Gaal left his managerial post in 2016.

And while no United player could hold their head high after the defeat, Jones had a more torrid performance than most in north London. Aside from the own goal, the Englishman was all over the shop in a showing that had fans tearing their hair out on Twitter.

They weren't the only football fans angry at Jones, though, with Fantasy Premier League exposing 13 of their users as making the most baffling of decisions.

Hindsight is all-too convenient but on what planet is it a good decision to use your triple-captain on Jones? Using the bonus on a centre-back is bizarre enough, never mind away from home and against the Golden Boot winner of the last two seasons.

The world's gone mad.

You won't be surprised to hear that Twitter was bewildered by the 13 Fantasy Football masochists in question, and that's not mentioning the 1,262 that made him captain. Take a look at the reaction:

It's not hard to imagine the 72,491 new owners of Jones going back on their decision after his disaster-class at Wembley, that's for sure.

As Mourinho eloquently described his own goal: "The second goal was unlucky, Jones was very unlucky. He scored a great goal, that Harry Kane would have been proud of!"
