After the dust settled on his shock trade to the Detroit Pistons, Blake Griffin was finally able to concentrate on what he does best as he made his eagerly anticipated debut for his new team on Thursday night. In front of a big crowd in Little Caesars Arena, Griffin produced an impressive debut and inspired the Pistons to pull out a 104-102 win.He posted solid numbers of 24 points, 10 rebounds, and five assists as he quickly got acclimated to his new teammates.Detroit has struggled to fill its new arena this season but the power of a superstar can change all that as fans flocked in their thousands to see their new power forward in action. They were not disappointed as the 28-year-old showed what he's all about and why the Michigan-based franchise took on his huge contract."I wanted to just come out and play hard," Griffin said, per ESPN. "Being really limited in my knowledge of our offence. I thought coach [Stan] Van Gundy did a great job of just putting in five things that we could go to, and we ran them to death, but they worked. And everybody just played hard."Griffin's presence on the floor seemed to energise the entire team and they were all playing with a sense of purpose. It was the first glimpse of the five-time All-Star in the lineup with Andre Drummond and the early signs were extremely encouraging."It's going to be cool," Drummond said. "It's going to be really fun just to watch him really do his thing and watch him get acclimated to our team. His game is not going to change at all."He's still going to be able to get his touches and play the way he plays. But he has another big that can play alongside of him, too, so the sky's the limit for this team."

Almost everything went right for the big man on his debut, apart from one embarrassing moment at the beginning of the second half.

Blake was forced to start the half on the bench as he somehow left his jersey in the locker room and the referees were not prepared to wait.

"You know what?" Griffin said. "I'm just going to blame it on a new environment. And my track record, I've never done that before. I went to go take my shirt off and I was like, 'Something doesn't feel right.'

"And I pulled it off and I saw that I only had my undershirt on. I don't know. I just wanted Anthony Tolliver to get a stop for me."

Despite this lapse, he was still able to do enough damage on the court to help his team get a much-needed win that boosts their playoff hopes.

He even got a special welcome from new teammates Drummond and Reggie Jackson as they doused him in water after his big night.

If his start is anything to go by, his acquisition could prove to be a real game-changer for Detroit.
