Steve Tilson has admitted his Southend side will need a miracle if they are to avoid relegation to League Two.

The 1-0 defeat by Brighton means the Shrimpers are one place off the foot of the League One table and seven points from safety.

"We need a miracle now for us to win the last three games," said Tilson. "I said all along that we cannot rely on others, you have to win your own games."

The Shrimpers boss added: "We have three games to go and we have to play with a bit of pride and see where that takes us.

"Again there was nothing between the two sides and they got a little break in front of goal. We had two or three chances to get one but we did not take them.

"I think the lads are flat, there`s no doubt about that. I think on Tuesday night (when Southend drew 2-2 with Brentford) we should have won and we should have got something from this game."
