Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s Arsenal career got off to the best possible start with a goal and a win on his debut. The Gabon international, who arrived in the week in a £56 million deal from Borussia Dortmund, scored as the Gunners battered Everton 5-1 on Saturday,Replays showed that Aubameyang’s goal should have been ruled out for offside but he won’t care about that. One game, one goal, and a message to the rest of the Premier League.“I feel the quality of his movement was excellent,” Arsene Wenger assessed, per the Telegraph. “The quality of his finishing looks excellent.“He is not completely at his best physically and still has work to do in that respect.”Aubameyang scored in the 37th minute but his first goal could have come even earlier. In the 14th minute, Laurent Koscielny jumped in ahead of Aubameyang to head home following Shkodran Mustafi’s corner.By no means did Koscielny steal the goal from Aubameyang but the new man certainly would have scored if not for the French defender beating him to the ball.

Yet Aubameyang wasn’t at all bothered. He reacted with a smile on his face and celebrated with Koscielny and Nacho Monreal.

What BBC Sport wrote about Aubameyang

However, BBC Sport didn’t see it that way. In their post-match report, they suggested Aubameyang was frustrated at missing out on a goal.

“On the flip side, there was also a hint of his individualistic streak - he did not seem too thrilled when Koscielny beat him to the scoring touch for Arsenal's second, throwing his arms out in front of him in an apparent gesture of mild frustration,” they wrote.

They must have been watching a different game to the rest of us.

WENGER WAS CHUFFED WITH AUBAMEYANG AND MKHITARYAN

Thankfully for Aubameyang, he wouldn’t have to wait much longer to get his goal.

The 28-year-old reunited with former Borussia Dortmund teammate Henrikh Mkhitaryan, who recorded three assists, and it was obvious that the pair had played together before.

“The two players [Aubameyang and Mkhitaryan] integrated well [into] our game and looked like they had played with us forever,” Wenger admitted.

“They have similar qualities to what our game is about. They are technically good, quick and overall it was a convincing performance.”
