There was no shortage of controversy during Tottenham's enthralling 2-2 draw with Liverpool on Sunday night. The Reds looked to have won the game in the most dramatic of fashions when Mohamed Salah channelled his inner Lionel Messi, only for Tottenham to collect their second penalty of the afternoon in the dying seconds.Loris Karius had saved Harry Kane's first spot kick, courageously standing in the middle of his goal, but was helpless to deny the league's top scorer second time around. The question is, though, was it a penalty?Jon Moss awarded the penalty after the Virgil van Dijk knee/kick on Erik Lamela that had supporters up in debate. Was it too soft or was it correct?

Divisive Virgil van Dijk-Erik Lamela moment

You won't be surprised to hear that Klopp didn't think so with the German delivering a series of fiery interviews after the game.

The German lamented: “Yes, Virgil van Dijk touches him, but we all know Lamela wants the touch and we all know they were so hard fouls in the first half and we didn’t get any fouls.

“That was the level for the game today, but then a situation in the last minute like that? Wow. He wanted to be middle of interest and he is."

It was an opinion reflected by a great number of Liverpool fans on Twitter who posted a number of videos trying to refute the referee's decision. Enter Matt Le Tissier.

Matt Le Tissier's message for Liverpool fans

The Sky Sports pundit became sick and tired of the moaning and videos, deciding to tweet a message to Kopites that sparked its fair share of debate. Check out the tweet:

It's fair to say the 49-year-old spoke for a lot of football fans, there.

Supporters have great reason to debate referring decisions online yet Le Tissier felt he had to intervene here and he didn't stop there, going on something of a replying marathon. Take a look at the reaction:

There was a mixture of responses with some in complete agreement and others maintaining that Van Dijk was hard done by.

Ultimately, though, fans can't change what has already happened and Liverpool will have to march on to secure their place in the top four.

Even Van Dijk himself, however, will have to admit that things need to improve since his £75 million move regardless of whether Lamela went down easily or not. Watch this space.
