Rajon Rondo showed the world that he’s still got it despite being 31-years-old with a fantastic display for the New Orleans Pelicans in their loss on Monday night against the Utah Jazz, which included a perfect behind the back bounce pass to set up a score. The Pelicans were thrashed 133-109 by the Jazz at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans last night despite the performances of Rondo and Jrue Holiday on the court against their Western Conference rivals.Holiday was the best player on the court for New Orleans, as he finished with 28 points, five rebounds, three assists, two steals, and he was 13-of-21 from the field in 33 minutes of game time. Rondo was just behind him and was two assists shy of a double-double with 18 points, three rebounds, eight assists, one steal, and he was 7-of-13 shooting in 30 minutes of action. His best assist of the game came in the third quarter when he was situated from the middle of the key to the 3-point line, as here he quickly redirected a pass to himself behind his own back, producing a bouncing pass to set up E'Twaun Moore in the corner for the score.

This performance was a season high in scoring for Rondo, as he had not previously reached double figures in scoring since January 10. Certainly, with DeMarcus Cousins sidelined for the rest of the season with an Achilles injury, the Pelicans may need him to play more like this on a regular basis.

The Pelicans were simply awful on defense as the Jazz led by double digits for most of the game, and they were up by as many as 20 in the middle of the fourth quarter. Both Anthony Davis and Pelicans coach Alvin Gentry reflected on how well Utah played after the game to ESPN.

Davis said: "We were in our coverages, what the coaches told us to be in and they shot the hell out of the ball. There was nothing you could really do about it. All those guys were making 3s. ... If they beat you doing that, then so be it."

Gentry said: "Rubio is playing at a real, real high level right now. Because of that, they're a really difficult team to guard."

New Orleans has now lost their last two games, and four of their last five since losing the All-Star center to the season-ending left Achilles tear on January 26. They’ll be hoping they can turn their form around when they play and host the Indiana Pacers on later this week on Wednesday night.
