When Virgil van Dijk arrived for £75 million on January 1, Liverpool fans probably thought their defensive issues had finally been solved. The centre-back pairing of Joel Matip and Dejan Lovren clearly wasn’t working and the Reds shelled out a world-record fee for the Dutchman in an attempt to stop leaking goals. But in the four games that Van Dijk has played since his big-money move, Jurgen Klopp’s side have conceded seven goals - winning just once. And now, Liverpool fans are starting to realise they might need another centre-back to partner Van Dijk if they are to really sort out their issues.Whether Klopp will prefer Matip or Lovren next to Van Dijk for the rest of the season remains to be seen but, on Sunday against Spurs, it was Lovren. And the Croatian was playing well until a horrible mistake led to Harry Kane pouncing on the ball, rounding goalkeeper Loris Karius and winning a penalty. There were complaints that Kane was offside - and that he dived - but it was Lovren’s missed clearance in the first place that led to the controversial incident.Of course, it’s not the first error Lovren has made in a Liverpool shirt - far from it, in fact. And Jamie Carragher let his feelings on Lovren be known in the Sky Sports studio after the match by saying: "Probably that incident sums up Dejan Lovren as a a footballer," Carragher said.

"He had a great game, but he lets himself down with a stupid mistake.”

But Liverpool fans have had enough of the error-prone Lovren.

Well, one fan in particular certainly has.

Twitter user @AnfieldInsider began a thread on Lovren back on 14 September 2017. He first tweet read: “A chronological thread of Dejan Lovren's errors over 3 years reads even more worryingly than you might think..”

What follows is rather hilarious.

The Liverpool fan quotes tweets from other users that detail mistakes Lovren has made since he made the £20 million move from Southampton in July 2014.

He’s numbered each of them and, following his howler against Spurs, he’s now reached number 50 in his thread.

We’re not going to embed all 50 tweets but here is the first one and you can follow Lovren’s Liverpool career from day one until Sunday.

THE 50-TWEET THREAD ON DEJAN LOVREN

Rather depressing, right?

Of course, Sunday wasn’t the first time Lovren had difficulty against Spurs this season. In the first fixture at Wembley, he was dragged off after just half an hour during a 4-1 defeat.

KLOPP THINK LOVREN HAS IMPROVED

But speaking before Sunday’s re-match, Klopp believed that nightmare back in October was good for Lovren.

“How I assess it is obvious because Dejan has played pretty much constantly since that game,” Klopp said.

“All this discussion is opened from the outside: ‘He’s not good enough, he’s that, he’s that.’

“He’s played a few fantastic games since Tottenham and before as well. Tottenham was a very bad game of the whole team.

“He was not good that day that’s true but after the game I said I could have changed five or six players at least in that moment but we decided for Dejan.”

How Lovren will bounce back from his latest mistake is unknown. We just hope he's not following @AnfieldInsider on Twitter…
