We're just one day away now from the NBA trade deadline, meaning teams only have a couple more hours left to make adjustments to their rosters to either prepare themselves for the future, or build the strongest team possible to push for a playoff spot this season.

One of the league's teams that's in a bit of a limbo spot at the moment though is the Los Angeles Clippers, as they're currently residing in ninth in the Western Conference, just on the edge of a playoff spot by half a game.

The Clippers may have revealed their intentions for this season as to whether they'll push for the playoffs or not, as according to Adrian Wojnarowski and Brian Windhorst of ESPN, extension talks between the Clippers and one of their star players "have gathered significant momentum."

The ESPN report states that Lou Williams will be given a new contract extension before Thursday afternoon's NBA trade deadline as rival teams have accepted the fact that the guard no longer on the market, and it looks like he's close to signing a multi-year extension to stay in Los Angeles.

Williams was a hot commodity on the trade market as he was enjoying the best season of his career, averaging 23.3 points, 5.3 assists, 2.5 rebounds, 1.1 steals and 2.8 triples per game. However, if this report is to be believed, teams are going to have to look elsewhere for that kind of production.

It looks as though Williams is staying put, but the Clippers have already been quite active on the trade market, as they've already traded Blake Griffin, Willie Reed, and Brice Johnson to the Detroit Pistons in exchange for Avery Bradley, Tobias Harris, Boban Marjanovic, a future protected first-round draft pick, and a future second-round draft pick.

According to reports, the Clippers have examined trade scenarios for DeAndre Jordan as well, but so far, no traction exists on a deal. There's a real chance that Jordan will end the season in Los Angeles, as he can opt out of his contract this summer and become an unrestricted free agent.

So while it looks as though the Clippers are still trying to get something in return for Jordan, the future of the franchise is with Williams in the frame.
