There is a lot of hype surrounding 17-year-old Angel Gomes right now.
The attacking midfielder came on at the end of Manchester United’s FA Cup win over Yeovil Town last month and supporters are eager to see more of Gomes in the near future.
And more first-team opportunities await the starlet who Man United academy graduate Danny Webber once compared to Paul Scholes.
“Gomes is still very small, but he sees the game seconds before others,” Webber said.
“Angel is like Paul Scholes; he can dictate a game with his intelligence."
There are high expectations for Gomes and those won’t be tempered if he continues to impress for Man United’s youth teams.
His latest outing came for the Under-19s in a 2-0 win over Brodarac on Wednesday.
Gomes grabbed an assist as Nicky Butt’s side booked their place in the last 16 of the UEFA Youth League.
But it was a mazy run that really showed why Gomes is seen as the future at Old Trafford.

The youngster received the ball on the right side of Brodarac’s area before twisting a defender inside out.

Butt: 'Gomes has a long way to go'
Gomes, who has represented England at Under-18 level, signed his first professional contract in December.
And according to Butt, he’s fully aware that he’s going to have to work exceptionally hard to make the first team at Old Trafford.
“It’s not a case of signing the contract and going straight into the first team,” the head of Man United’s academy said.
“He’s a bright lad and he knows he has got a long way to go to stamp his authority in the first team.
“He needs to get in the reserves, settle in there, become a dominant player at reserve-team level and step up.”
Gomes, who joined Man United as a six-year-old and became the first player born in the 2000s to appear in the Premier League last year, is no doubt aware that he has a chance to join a long number of successful academy graduates at Old Trafford.News Now - Sport News
