Lincoln have confirmed that Paul Green suffered a broken foot at the weekend and have ruled out the defender for the remainder of the season.

The 23-year-old, who is out of contract in the summer, suffered the injury during the 1-0 defeat at Shrewsbury on Saturday. City feared the worst as they awaited the results of scans and it has now been confirmed that Green has broken the fifth metatarsal in his right foot.

The injury will keep him sidelined for around six weeks, meaning he will miss Lincoln`s final three League Two matches this season.

"It is a big blow. Paul has done exceptionally well and he has been our best player in recent weeks," said manager Chris Sutton. "It is unbelievable that we have lost so many centre-halves this season."
