If you don't think David de Gea is the world's best goalkeeper, you're probably in denial.Ok, so Manuel Neuer and Gianluigi Buffon would probably have something to say about that but their arguments for superiority over the last 12 months have dwindled by the game. For De Gea, it's been another season at Manchester United and another season of brilliance.Since moving to Old Trafford in 2011, the Spaniard became the first goalkeeper to win the Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year Award and, naturally, proceeded to win two more for good measure. It makes it all the more nonsensical that individual award ceremonies have failed to acknowledge his exploits in recent years but now, it seems just a matter of time.Nevertheless, the Red Devils could easily have lost their star man to Real Madrid back in 2015 when Los Blancos delivered the appropriate paperwork to the Spanish FA headquarters just one minute too late on Deadline Day.

De Gea to Real Madrid rumours

Since the arrival of Jose Mourinho and a steady influx of silverware, though, rumours of a De Gea exit have notably waned even if the occasion whisper spreads from Iberia.

That being said, worries of the 27-year-old's future will continue to linger as long as another league title and the Champions League continues to evade him.

That's certainly the opinion of Craig Bellamy, who took no shame in annoying Manchester United fans by seeming utterly convinced that their number one will swap Old Trafford for the Bernabeu.

Craig Bellamy thinks De Gea is nailed on to leave

Speaking on Sky Sports' 'The Debate', the ex-Liverpool player hypothesised: "He is the real deal and I have always felt that Real Madrid have been looking for him to be their No 1 for a number of years.

"And it is just a matter of time before they get him.

"Usually every top club has a rebuild and maybe it has been a little bit more overdue with Madrid because of the success of they have had in the Champions League.

"But I see De Gea being a huge part of that and Real Madrid do spend money, they always have done, they have been quiet over the last few years.

"So probably due to the fact that it will take a huge fee to get him and prise him away from Man Utd, I would be shocked if he did not go."

Manchester United fans react

In fairness to Bellamy, he has a pretty sound theory. Real Madrid have found themselves in a rut this season and if any summer would justify a Galactico-like spending spree, it's this year.

Fans will just have to hope things aren't quite as clear-cut as Bellamy would suggest.
