Triple H could be getting ready to take on a much bigger role within the WWE backstage, and it's all because of the big XFL relaunch planned in 2020.

Vince McMahon made the announcement earlier this year that he would be bringing back his formerly defunct professional football league. The launch is planned for the year 2020 and is being described as "football reimagined."

McMahon is looking to make several changes to the game we all know today in the NFL; including attempts to shorten the game, tackle the complexity of catching rules, and many more. His XFL Twitter account even took shots at the NFL during Super Bowl 52 last week.

During his XFL relaunch press conference McMahon was asked how his involvement with the XFL would impact his day to day operations in WWE. His answer? It won't.

A report from Dave Meltzer of F4WOnline says otherwise, however. He reports McMahon's son-in-law, Triple H, will be receiving much more power within the company due to the XFL relaunch.

It short - McMahon's limited time being taken up by the XFL could lead to some changes and this is the feeling backstage within WWE.

As for the WWE's recent signing of Jeremy Borash to NXT, it's being described as “a lot bigger than just a hire of a guy.” More people could fill key positions within Triple H's team around the time of the XFL relaunch.

One piece of evidence that this report is true is the fact that McMahon recently handed over the reigns of 205 Live to Triple H. "The Game" is now running both NXT and 205 Live, and the reviews for both shows have been stellar as of late.

The common feeling amongst professional wrestling fans is that Triple H is more in touch with today's generation than Vince who is currently 72-years-old. It should be interesting to see how WWE runs with Triple H calling the shots.

What are your thoughts on Triple H possibly gaining more power within WWE due to the relaunch of the XFL likely taking up more of Vince McMahon's limited time?
