Barcelona booked their place in the final of the Copa del Rey with a 3-0 aggregate victory over Valencia. The Blaugrana, leading 1-0 from last week’s first match, secured a 2-0 win at the Mestalla last night and they will now go in search of their fourth straight Copa del Rey trophy.Philippe Coutinho scored his first goal for the club and Ivan Rakitic added the second late on, but the real star of the show was Lionel Messi. How many times has that been said? The Argentinian superstar ran proceedings from the first minute to the last; he was a joy to watch.Sport wrote about Messi: “Every ball went through him. Switched on from the first moment.”

Messi was literally walking v Valencia

The 30-year-old sent Valencia’s Jose Gaya for a hotdog in the opening exchanges and nearly scored with a fine free-kick.

But it was when Messi was at his most casual that fans really enjoyed.

In the first half, the Barca forward received the ball on the right side and actually started walking forwards with the ball, for roughly 10 seconds.

Talk about slowing the game down.

There was a similar moment late on. Messi and Rakitic proceeded to pass the ball back and forth between each other several times until a Valencia player eventually came to close them down.

Coutinho reacts to his goal

Among those who also had fun last night was Coutinho, who scored his first goal for Barcelona following his £142 million move from Liverpool.

The Brazilian did really well to steer home Luis Suarez’s cross in the second half, and he expressed his joy at full-time.

"I have been trying to score since the first game I played [for the club] and I am happy to have scored, although the most important thing is that the team won the game and we leave here happy,” Coutinho said, per Sport.

Barcelona will take on Sevilla in the final in April and Coutinho is already looking forward to it.

“We're really happy to reach the final,” he added. “For me, it's the first final and it's a very special and important moment.”

Barcelona will enter the contest as favourites as much of that is to do with one man: Messi.
