The Dallas Mavericks this season might not be the team they once were, but Dirk Nowitzki turned back the clock last night with an awesome move to score a basket against one the NBA's best defenders in Draymond Green of the Golden State Warriors. The Mavericks lost 121-103 against the Warriors at the Oracle Arena in Oakland on Thursday night, with Steph Curry and Kevin Durant leading the way for the home side as they both scored 20 or more points on the night.Nowitzki had a pretty decent game for Dallas as well, as he earned himself his fourth double-double this season with 16 points, 11 rebounds, one assist, a season-high of five steals, two blocks, and he was 6-of-10 from the field.Dennis Smith Jr. scored the most points for the Mavericks on the night with 22, while Dwight Powell and Wesley Matthews also added 18 and 17 to the scoreboard respectively. However, it was a play Nowitzki made in the third quarter of the game that many fans enjoyed the most. With the Mavericks still only down by one at this point, the 39-year-old received the ball in play and then produced to fake on Green not once, but twice in the space of a couple of seconds, before putting the ball away in the basket to give his team the lead.

This play reminded many Dallas fans of the Nowitzki which won the NBA MVP award back in 2007. Oh, what they would do to have that Nowitzki back on the court on a regular basis! It would probably place the team right back in contention in the Western Conference! To shake off the reigning Defensive Player of the Year as well is pretty awesome.

It was only earlier this week on Monday night that the future Hall of Famer became just the sixth player in NBA history to play at least 50,000 minutes in his NBA career. He's had an amazing 20-year career with the Mavericks and hopefully, this season isn't the last we see of him.

Still residing at the bottom of the Western Conference, Nowitzki and the Mavericks play next when they host the Los Angeles Lakers on Saturday at the American Airlines Center in Dallas.
