Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski has been plundering goals in the Bundesliga for what feels like an age now. Whether at Borussia Dortmund or at Bayern, the Polish hitman is undoubtedly a master of his art and makes goals scoring look terrifyingly simple at times.

Robert Lewandowski bagged 30 goals in 2015-16 as he easily took the title for leading scorer in the league.

However, last season, Lewandowski's monopoly on the goalscoring awards in the German top tier was snatched away from him by Gabonese front man Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang who notched a double on the final day to claim the award for the leading goalscorers with a final tally of 31.

Once teammates at Dortmund for a time, the two prolific strikers have been competing with each other for the top awards for a few seasons now.

During that time, both men have been linked with big money moves away from Germany, but those distractions have done little to deter the duo from their desire to find the back of net.

However, the temptation of trying ones hand in a new environment became too great for Aubameyang this January as he swapped Dortmund for London in a club record move to Arsenal, leaving his rivalry with Lewandowski behind.

Now, Lewandowski has bizarrely proclaimed that he has begun to miss Aubameyang, who had already netted 13 times this season before his departure.

“For the last three years I’ve competed with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to be the top scorer,” said Lewandowski.

"Now that he’s gone, maybe a part of my motivation that came from our duel has also gone.

"Obviously, when you have that rivalry, you’re a bit more motivated.”

With Bayern looking set to romp to yet another Bundesliga title, and he closest challenger seven goals behind him, it is no wonder that Lewandowski may be feeling a little bored with life in Germany.

Aubameyang, on the other hand, showed that he isn't missing Lewandowski at all, scoring with a delightful chip against a lowly Everton side on his Arsenal debut.

Arsenal fans will be hoping their new signing will be able to replicate his German goalscoring form in England for many years to come.
