Anthony Wordsworth returns to the Colchester squad for the visit of Tranmere.

The young winger has missed the last two games through suspension after collecting 10 yellow cards this season.

Wordsworth could be handed an immediate recall to a midfield shorn of John-Joe O'Toole, who is facing up to nine months on the sidelines with a cruciate ligament injury.

Defender Franck Queudrue was an unused substitute during last week's defeat at Hartlepool after a hamstring strain and could return to the starting line-up.

But striker Kayode Odejayi is still struggling with a foot injury.

The Us have won just one of their last 11 games, a run which has seen them tumble from third to seventh, six points off the play-off places.

Shaleum Logan could return to the Tranmere squad.

The defender has been out for more than a month with a hernia injury but following a successful operation the Manchester City loanee rejoined training on Thursday and could be on the bench.

Manager Les Parry will be without midfielder Paul McLaren, who has been ruled out for the rest of the season with a thigh injury.

However, defender Chris McCready could be available after recovering from a hamstring injury that ruled him out of the defeats to Exeter and Brentford.

Craig Curran showed no ill-effects of a groin problem as the striker played the full match in Tuesday's clash against the Bees and should start again.
