Last night's (Sat. February 10, 2017) UFC 221 pay-per-view (PPV) kicked off with an amazing first round submission victory from Australian Tyson Pedro. The event went down from the Perth Arena in Perth, Australia and the Aussie sent his fans home happy with a ridiculous Kimura finish. He took on Saparbek Safarov in the UFC 221 opener and Safarov went in for a takedown against the fence. As Safarov was working against the cage Pedro worked for a Kimura. Safarov desperately tried to wiggle out of it, but Pedro's grip was strong and could not be broken. After a sick roll around the mat Pedro's position was just too deep for Safarov to escape from. He had no choice but to tap out. Check out the amazing exchange here:

Pedro has now emerged as a name to keep your eye on in a shallow pool of 205-pound contenders. With fighters such as Volkan Oezdemir earning a title fight with just a few first round knockout wins, Pedro has a legitimate shot at earning a shot at the gold himself.

The 26-year-old has only lost one fight in his mixed martial arts (MMA) career, a unanimous decision defeat to Ilir Latifi back in September at UFC 215.

With the exception of his fight against Latifi, Pedro has managed to finish each and every one of his opponents in the first round with a solid mixture of submissions.

An interesting fact about Pedro is that he hosts his own podcast, The Halfcast Podcast" with Tai Tuivasa - a UFC heavyweight fighter. He also just so happens to be Tuivasa's brother in law.

Tuivasa picked up a massive win of his own on last night's UFC 221 card, delivering a vicious first round knockout win after completely dominating his opponent, Cyril Asker.

Both of these men are names to keep your eyes on as they continue forward with their respective careers. As for Pedro, that highlight reel finish will definitely earn him a high profile fight moving forward.

What are your thoughts on Pedro's sick Kimura against Saparbek Safarov from last night's UFC 221 PPV? Do you think that Pedro is one day going to be a champion at 205 pounds? And who do you think will be next for Pedro after his sick submission win? Let us know your thoughts on the matter in the comments section below!
