The uncle of Floyd Mayweather Jr has explained that a rematch between his nephew and Conor McGregor is very much a possibility, should it be given the go-ahead.

Jeff Mayweather watched on as his nephew enjoyed a star-studded career in the ring, taking more of a back seat in the American's progress.

Mayweather Jr has twice retired in his career before, returning for his swansong in a one-off bout with Irish UFC fighter McGregor in Las Vegas back in August last year.

And a rematch between the pair has been billed in recent months, with Jeff wading in on the debate.

The Uncle, who operates the YouTube channel for his nephew's promotional activities, feels that the pair could do it all again if the price was right.

He believes that McGregor could be tempted by a huge payday, similar to the eye-watering amount that the Dublin fighter received for his last scrap with the evergreen Mayweather.

Speaking on his YouTube video, Mayweather said: “I think just like the first time around, the same thing that went though Conor’s mind – money. It was an event. Basically this would be an event," as per Boxing News and Views.

"The exact same thing but it would just be in reverse. I think that if it’s about money its worth the risk.

McGregor is yet to return to the boxing scene since his defeat in Las Vegas last summer, so it will be interesting to see if he is enticed into another showdown with the 40-year-old Mayweather Jr.

And Jeff Mayweather continued to question McGregor, entering into a sweary tirade of verbal insults towards the direction of the out-spoken Irishman.

He concluded: “True fighter at heart my a**. Motherf***** made a hundred million dollars. He never would have seen that in the UFC.”
