According to the bookmakers, it would take something rather extraordinary to stop Kevin de Bruyne from winning PFA Footballer of the Year come the end of the season.

The Manchester City midfielder has been simply magnificent, helping Pep Guardiola’s go 16 points clear at the top of the league.

Seven goals and a remarkable 14 assists explain exactly why the Belgian is ahead of Mohamed Salah and Harry Kane in the running for the top individual award.

And De Bruyne was at his very best during City’s 5-1 victory over Leicester on Saturday evening.

He provided three assists and, if it wasn’t for Sergio Aguero’s four goals, he would have received yet another Man of the Match award.

While he was in fine form during the match, he was also in fine form in the tunnel after the match.

The club’s ‘Tunnel Cam’ has captured De Bruyne swapping shirts with Leicester defender Harry Maguire.

And he also had a very cheeky message for the highly-rated centre-back.

Maguire arrived at the King Power stadium in the summer for £24 million and he’s already attracting interest from the biggest clubs in the league.

But De Bruyne wasn’t tapping him in. Instead, he asked if he could “take some points off the big boys for us!"

It’s surprising to hear that De Bruyne is even worried in all honesty.

With a 16-point gap between them and a stuttering Manchester United side, the Citizens have pretty much sealed the title already.

But De Bruyne probably should have looked at the fixture list before asking Maguire to do him a favour.

Leicester have already played United twice - taking two points from them in December - although they do have Tottenham and Arsenal still to play.

De Bruyne shouldn’t really be worrying about them, though. If he keeps playing the way he is, there will be simply no stopping City from winning the league or him winning the Player of the Year.
