Following Alexis Sanchez’s departure from Arsenal, it immediately looked as though there was a better atmosphere at the club.

In the first match in the post-Sanchez era, they thrashed Everton 5-1 with new signing Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang producing brilliant performances.

Reports often suggested that the Chilean disrupted the harmony at the Emirates with continued doubts surrounding his future.

Whether or not there is any truth behind Sanchez causing unrest in the dressing room is unknown but there were certainly signs of it.

One incident, in particular, occurred during Arsenal’s 3-2 victory over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park in December.

Sanchez scored twice that night and there was a big deal made of the celebrations after his strikes.

Club legend Thierry Henry noticed it and suggested that Sanchez was asking his teammates why they weren’t celebrating with him.

“There is division in the team,” said Henry, talking on Sky Sports. “He is asking them to come [and celebrate with him]. Why are they not coming? Don’t they want to celebrate?

“You’re not here for Alexis Sanchez, you’re here for Arsenal. Arsenal scored so go and celebrate. Whoever does it, celebrate with your team-mate.”

And it was something that fellow Sky Sports pundit, Graeme Souness agreed with.

“There is a divided dressing room,” he said.

“It shows they aren’t having Sanchez at the moment... It is clear there is a dynamic in the dressing room that all is not well.”

BELLERIN: WHY SOME PLAYERS DIDN'T CELEBRATE

And, this week, Hector Bellerin appeared to explain why some Arsenal players didn’t celebrate with Sanchez during that match.

Bellerin himself decided not to congratulate his teammate’s goal to put Arsenal 2-1 and could be seen back on the halfway line with a couple of other players.

And the right-back explained that he, and Calum Chambers, were discussing tactics, rather than celebrating.

‘This season maybe things weren’t going as well for him but I truly believe he was giving 100 per cent,” Bellerin told the Oxford Union.

"There was one game against Crystal Palace. We celebrated a goal and some of the players went I stayed back, I was talking to Calum Chambers and others because there was some tactical stuff. For me, that was more important than celebrating the goal."

But when Sanchez scored his second goal of the game, Laurent Koscielny was seen standing back on the halfway line, seemingly refusing to celebrate.

Bellerin went on to explain that he perhaps demanded too much of his teammates, which might have caused some disagreements.

"Alexis is an amazing player," Bellerin added.

"One of the best in the Premier League for sure but he is a player who always wants to win. He demands from everyone, sometimes it can be too much. The great thing is he wants to win, to give 100 per cent."
