Manny Pacquiao’s sparring partner has spoken.

Pacquiao is one of the greatest boxers of all-time. That is a safe statement to say.

He is the only eight-division world champion in the history of boxing by winning eleven major world titles and being the first boxer to win the lineal championship in five different weight classes.

He is also the first boxer in history to win major world titles in four of the original eight weight classes of boxing. Those classes include flyweight, featherweight, lightweight, and welterweight.

He has been a superstar of the sport for many years as he has generated approximately 19.2 million in pay-per-view buys and $1.2 billion in revenue from his 23 PPV bouts. He was the second highest paid athlete in the world as of 2015.

Away from boxing, he has a political career as well. In May 2010, Pacquiao was elected to the House of Representatives in the 15th Congress of the Philippines, representing the province of Sarangani.

He was re-elected in 2013 to the 16th Congress of the Philippines. Fast forward to June of 2016, Pacquiao was elected as a senator and will serve a six-year term until 2022.

In July 2017 after his controversial defeat to Jeff Horn, Pacquiao said (transcript courtesy of Inquirer Sports, "I love this sport and until the passion is gone, I will continue to fight for God, my family, my fans and my country.”

However, we still haven’t seen him back inside the ring. Ray Beltran is Manny’s sparring partner still feels Pacquiao can compete with the best boxers in the world.

“I’ve been with Manny for like 12 years, maybe more,” Beltran told BoxingScene.com. “People just know what they see on TV or what they read on the Internet or in the magazines. But Manny is actually a lightweight. He’s a lightweight fighting at welterweight. That’s what a lot of people don’t know.

“They say, ‘Oh, Manny’s not the same. He’s not knocking people out.’ It’s hard to knock big guys out. They can take the punches better. There’s a lot of things people don’t know. A lot of people just follow what they see on social media and whatever they read. But Horn was way too big, and I think Manny should be fighting at 140. Manny would destroy anybody at 140.”

“I think he has made such a big name that his situation kind of demands for him to be at 147,” Beltran said. “All the fans look at him as a welterweight. I think that’s his situation. But I believe Manny could easily make 140 and 135. And Manny would be a killer, a monster at that weight.”

“I think Manny should be OK in that fight,” Beltran said. “Manny should do good. Manny’s not as young as he used to be and Mike Alvarado’s a big guy. But I think based on styles, Manny should take care of him.”
