The Milwaukee Bucks are surging. After taking down the Atlanta Hawks on Tuesday night, they improved their record to 32-24 on the year and have gone an impressive 8-2 in their last 10 contests.Although Giannis Antetokounmpo, Khris Middleton and Eric Bledsoe have shouldered the load in an effective manner all season long, a couple of key backcourt injuries have caused some concern recently.Reigning rookie of the year Malcolm Brogdon was diagnosed with a partially torn left quadricep tendon on February 2 and was ruled out for 6-to-8 weeks as a result. Also, reserve point guard Matthew Dellavedova is dealing with a Grade 3 ankle sprain and will be out for 2-to-3 more weeks because of it. Therefore, interim head coach Joe Prunty has had to turn to guys like veteran Jason Terry, Sean Kilpatrick and Sterling Brown to fill the void that Brogdon and Dellavedova left. Although it’s worked out in recent games, it appears as though the organization felt the need to possibly bring in a reinforcement. On Tuesday, the team announced that the Wisconsin Herd (their G-League affiliate) had acquired Brandon Jennings off waivers.Jennings was taken by Milwaukee with the 10th overall pick in the 2009 NBA Draft. Over four seasons with the club, he averaged a respectable 17.0 points, 3.4 rebounds and 5.7 assists per game over 291 appearances.

“We couldn’t be more excited to welcome Brandon back to the Bucks organization and introduce him to the Herd family,” said Herd General Manager and Bucks Vice President of Basketball Operations Dave Dean in a statement. “Brandon has played at the highest levels all over the world and we look forward to him calling Oshkosh home.”

The 28-year-old guard recently played with Shanxi Zhongyu in the Chinese Basketball Association. Like many former NBA players, he dominated. In 13 games, he averaged 27.9 points, 6.8 assists, 5.1 rebounds and 2.7 steals per contest.

Although the signing doesn’t guarantee that Jennings will be called up to Milwaukee, it certainly signals that his NBA career might not be over if he produces in the G-League. After all, the New Orleans Pelicans recently signed Emeka Okafor to a 10-day contract and even elected to start him in the team's most-recent contest. He had not received an NBA start in nearly five years, but had performed well in his stint in the G-League earlier in the year.

Jennings averaged 8.6 points and 4.9 assists over 24.6 minutes in 58 appearances for the New York Knicks last season before getting waived. He was then picked up by the Washington Wizards where he played a minimal role off the bench, averaging just 3.5 points and 4.7 assists in 16.3 minutes over 23 games.
