Former NXT star Big Cass has been dealing with an ACL injury for several months now and has been rehabbing in attempt to get back into the WWE ring.

Cass suffered this injury the day after last year's SummerSlam pay-per-view (PPV) on Monday Night RAW. Cass was in a match against Enzo Amore and went down in the middle of the match. The referee threw up the dreaded "x" symbol and called an end to the bout.

He was helped to the back of the arena and was later diagnosed with a torn ACL. According to a report from PWInsider, Cass could be getting ready to make his in-ring return soon.

The report suggests that Cass has been spotted in in the WWE Performance Center working out. It was also said that he looks to be in great shape and was walking on his own without any assistance.

With that being said there was no word on whether or not Cass had taken any bumps. It does seem that despite this he is trending in the right direction as it pertains to getting back inside of the ring.

Cass has been rehabbing his torn ACL for six months since undergoing surgery. Initially he was given a timetable of 6-9 months for a return. This means Cass' recovery process could be up very soon.

It should be interesting to see what WWE does with Cass once he returns to the ring. Enzo Amore is no longer with the company and The Big Show is recovering from a surgical infection.

Perhaps a slow build up for Cass is in order to turn him into one of the more dominant Superstars on the roster. WWE would do well to mimic the rise of Braun Strowman to what he has become today.

What are your thoughts on Cass being close to returning to the ring after recovering from his injury? How do you think he'll be received by the WWE Universe when he does return to the ring? And is there a World Title run in his future as one of a few big men in the WWE today? Have YOUR say in the comments section below, and the fourth episode of GiveMeSport’s WWE podcast is here!
