The Champions League is back and Liverpool are in deadly form.

Jurgen Klopp's attack-heavy machine scored 23 goals in the group stages and are flying in the Premier League, seeing off Southampton 2-0 in their last game on Sunday.

The Reds have a real chance of pipping bitter rivals Manchester United to second place, while they are the big favourites to see off Porto in the last-16.

The attacking duo of Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino are in frightening form, but Klopp's midfield options are still a bit unsettled.

Ahead of their fixture away in Portugal, the boss named a midfield trio of Jordan Henderson, James Milner and Gigi Wijnaldum.

The big omission was Emre Can, who has enjoyed a brilliant season despite his contract nearing it's end.

His absence was brought up in the BT Sport studio and Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard appeared to let something slip about his future.

Reds fans all heard you Stevie.

Despite the fact that Can's imminent departure is almost common knowledge, hearing it come out of Gerrard's mouth still got fans talking.

Can appears to be on the brink of a free transfer to Juventus in the summer, with the main dispute between him and Liverpool centring on the fact that the club would not offer him a 'release clause' in a potential new deal.

In the closing stages of the season, Klopp may opt to use Can less due to the fact that he will not be staying at the club past the summer.

The arrival of Naby Keita from RB Leipzig cannot come any sooner.
