There was a bizarre moment in Antonio Conte's Thursday lunchtime press conference which quickly went viral online.

The under-pressure Italian coach was taking questions from journalists ahead of Friday night's FA Cup clash with Hull City.

Chelsea beat West Brom 3-0 at Stamford Bridge on Monday night following shock defeats to Bournemouth and Watford.

“We are getting used to the speculation," said Conte when asked about the possibility of being sacked. "My players know very well what our work is and what we have to do,” he added.

“For sure we are going to try to fight against this speculation. There is only one way, to win and play good football.

“I think until the end we continue to live with this speculation. For me it is not important."

Why Conte was pranked with a United shirt

Conte's press conference was interrupted by an Italian journalist who had met Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho weeks earlier.

The prankster showed Conte a video on his tablet before handing him a United shirt with his name on the back.

"This is present for you," said the Italian journalist in a mix of English and Italian. "It is signed by Jose Mourinho…'To my friend Antonio', long live friendship…shall I leave it to you?"

“No, you can take it with you," Conte responded in Italian after initially staying completely silent. "Keep it, you will give it to me later”.

Conte proceeded to leave the shirt there at the end of the press conference.

Mourinho had been ambushed outside the Lowry Hotel in Manchester by the very same journalist weeks earlier.

The Portuguese coach did not realise the shirt had Conte's name on the back but it was too late - he had already signed it.

An altogether very strange incident.
