Ipswich captain Jon Walters is hoping to still be at Portman Road next season despite reports linking him with other clubs.

The 26-year-old, who joined from Chester in January 2007, has no intention of leaving the Championship outfit at the end of the season.

He told the East Anglian Daily Times: "As far as I know I'll be here next season. This is my plan. I think these stories may have started because I'm now renting a house in the town after selling mine. But this is because a proposed purchase broke down."

Walters is determined to help his side end the season on a winning note with victory against Sheffield United on Sunday, adding: "We're desperate for a good result against Sheffield United to give our fans something to cheer - and to sign off on a high note.

"If we can beat the Blades it will bode well for next season and will give us momentum going into pre-season training."
