Paul Ince claims Alexis Sanchez is affecting Paul Pogba's Man United form

Every Manchester United fan has been talking about Paul Pogba lately, and it’s not for the same reasons they were at the beginning of the season.

The Frenchman started the campaign on fire, but injury robbed him from the United side for nearly three months.

In that time, the Red Devils slipped over 10 points behind neighbours Manchester City in the Premier League title race and Jose Mourinho came under scrutiny for his ‘boring’ brand of football.

However, since Pogba’s return to the side, things haven’t gotten any better for United and they have fallen 16 points behind in the title race.

Mourinho was seen arguing with his £89 million man during the defeat to Spurs a few weeks back and then he dropped the 24-year-old for the league encounter with Huddersfield.

Pogba looked a shell of the player fans have come to know during the 1-0 defeat to Newcastle last Sunday and he was hauled off with United chasing the game.

Many speculated he suffered a minor injury in the warm-up for the game, but former United man Paul Ince believes Alexis Sanchez’s arrival has had a negative impact on Pogba’s form.

Writing in his column for Paddy Power via the Mirror, Ince said: “Since Sanchez joined the club, Pogba’s confidence and mood seems to have gone in the opposite direction to earlier in the season,” said Ince.

“He looks like a totally different player.

“It’s probably due to the fact, that pre-Sanchez, he was the main man. He was the kingpin and the one everyone was talking about.

“But the arrival of Sanchez has taken the shine off him. What I would say is, at United, you’re all main men. You should all perform like that, too.

“Looking at the Newcastle game, you could see from his body language that he’s fed up. Whatever it is, it’s a problem that needs addressing.”

Pogba looked uncomfortable against Newcastle and he could have had a genuine physical problem rather than feeling like he isn’t the ‘star’ of the show.

Much has been made of Pogba’s best position at United, but has Sanchez’s arrival knocked his confidence?
