The Utah Jazz are the hottest team in the NBA at the moment as they hold the longest active winning streak at 11 games.

This incredible winning run has seen them go above .500 and improve their record to 30-28 in the Western Conference.

They've given their hopes of securing a playoff berth this season a significant boost as they're now a game and a half behind the New Orleans Pelicans in the eighth spot.

Utah will be in a fight with the Pelicans, Los Angeles Clippers, Denver Nuggets and Portland Trail Blazers for the final positions in the west but they've given themselves a real chance heading into the second part of the campaign.

According to center Rudy Gobert, they will be one of the eight teams to make it to the postseason this year.

"No doubt, we're definitely making the playoffs," he told ESPN's Tim MacMahon.

The Frenchman told MacMahon that he loves the Jazz’s developing chemistry, confidence, and unselfishness. And he’s quite confident they’ll continue being a dominant defensive team.

The big man is also impressed with the maturity and talent of rookie sensation Donovan Mitchell.

In just his first year in the league, the 21-year-old has become the team's leading scorer and has taken on the responsibility of being their leader offensively.

While Mitchell deserves huge praise for the way he's played all year, the team's 11-game winning run has been made possible thanks to a team effort on both ends of the floor.

The likes of Gobert, Joe Ingles, and Ricky Rubio have come up big as they've beaten some of the league's best teams in the San Antonio Spurs, Golden State Warriors, and Toronto Raptors.

Their resurgence has been remarkable and totally unexpected. Prior to the 11 straight wins, they'd lost to the lowly Atlanta Hawks and were five games back for the final playoff spot.

The Salt Lake City outfit has clawed that back and is now within touching distance.

Gobert's return last month was crucial and he's once again proving to be one of the best defensive anchors in the league as the Jazz rank as the fifth-best defence in the league.

The 'Stifle Tower' is also putting up respectable numbers again as he's averaging 12.4 points, 9.9 boards, and 2.4 blocks over 31 games.

His season has been hampered by injuries but he's back to full health at just the right time for Utah and is keen to get another taste of playoff action after his first appearance last year.
