Cristiano Ronaldo proved once again this week that you should never write him off.The Real Madrid superstar has been poor by his impeccably high standards in La Liga this season, despite scoring a reasonably impressive 11 goals in 18 appearances.Three of those goals came in a straightforward 5-2 demolition of Real Sociedad last weekend - and that performance warmed him up nicely for the visit of Paris Saint-Germain four days later.Ronaldo, who turned 33 earlier this month, played a pivotal role in Madrid’s impressive 3-1 victory, scoring two goals either side of half-time.The Portuguese legend scored his first from the penalty spot on the stroke of half-time and then put Los Blancos 2-1 up in the 83rd minute with a rather fortuitous finish. Still, he was in the right place at the right time and did what he does best.Marcelo then added gloss to the scoreline - and enhanced Madrid’s chances of advancing to the Champions League quarter-finals - by netting a late third. We’ve all seen the footage of the ball mysteriously bouncing before Ronaldo scored his penalty.Rio Ferdinand even claimed that his former Manchester United teammate used to practice that ‘technique’ in training, much to the bemusement of just about everyone. You may have also seen that Ronaldo had a green laser pointed at him by some idiot in the crowd before taking his spot-kick.

How Ronaldo reacted to the laser pointed at him

A video is now doing the rounds showing exactly how Ronaldo dealt with this at the time - and it’s brilliant to watch.

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner was clearly bothered by the laser but then closed his eyes, took a deep breath, and regained his focus.

Within the space of one second he’d managed to get himself back in the zone, free from the distraction of the laser.

Ronaldo then dispatched his penalty into the bottom corner of the net.

This footage sums up Ronaldo's elite mentality

If ever one video summed up Ronaldo’s elite mentality, then this is it.

Many players would have missed the penalty in such a high-pressure situation under the same circumstances.

But then Ronaldo is no ordinary footballer.
