The latest update on his future with the WWE has surfaced.

Former WWE World Heavyweight Champion Rey Mysterio understands how to get fans of sports entertainment talking.

Mysterio has had a lot of success while competing under the WWE banner, but you have to keep in mind that his exit from the company was not the greatest.

If you recall, WWE held up his contract and basically froze it due to Mysterio being out of action with injuries.

He was with the company for much longer than his contract originally called for. Mysterio is best known for his appearances with ECW, WCW, and WWE between 1995 and 2015.

He had a decorated career in his professional wrestling career as he has won WWE's World Heavyweight Title, the WWE Title, WWE Cruiserweight Title, WCW World Tag Team Title, WCW Cruiserweight Tag Team Title, WWC World Junior Heavyweight Title, WWE Tag Team Title, and WWE Intercontinental Title.

As seen at the WWE Royal Rumble pay-per-view event in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania at the Wells Fargo Center on the WWE Network, Shinsuke Nakamura won the 2018 Royal Rumble Match by beating out John Cena, Finn Balor, and Roman Reigns in the final four.

Mysterio made a surprise appearance in the match. The expectation is that Mysterio will sign some kind of a deal, maybe in 2019 if not this year, with WWE.

The deal will likely be a part-time deal, similar to the deals Chris Jericho has worked in the past.

Konnan was asked about Mysterio’s future during Thursday’s Impact Wrestling conference call.

The former WCW star who is good friends with the former World Champion claims Mysterio will be making a decision on his future “pretty soon.”

Here is what he had to say (transcript courtesy of Wrestling Inc):

“I don’t know, he’s had an incredible year.It was very important for him to leave WWE and do things on his own terms, and he has. I know that Impact has reached out to him and obviously WWE did, and that’s obviously a decision that he’s going to be making pretty soon.

I hope to have him over here obviously because we have a great history together, and Alberto El Patron is here with the whole Latino movement.

At the end of the day, it’s who’s going to make the best offer for him because one thing I know 100% for sure is that he will never go back on a full-time schedule.”
