There was always going to be fireworks when George Groves and Chris Eubank Jr clashed in Manchester on Saturday night. Both world champions, the two men clashed in the World Boxing Super Series super-middleweight semi-finals and it was one of the most hotly anticipated all-British bouts in recent memory. The first round started with both men looking cagey and unwilling to be caught on the way in. Eubank Jr was especially out of character, choosing to stand back and conserve his energy.Through two rounds, Groves was landing punches at a rate of three-to-one over Eubank and the son of former world champion Chris Eubank Sr was left frustrated, unable to get inside. In the third round, Eubank Jr sustained a deep cut over his right eye after a clash of heads during a punching exchange, but Eubank began to land more punches after a nervous start and his volume strikes began to come into play. The bout exploded into action in the eighth round with both men trading big shots and it seemed like the contest was nearing its conclusion sooner rather than later. It became increasingly apparent that Eubank Jr needed a knockout if he was to claim a victory over Groves and deep in the fight, he made no disguise of that fact. However, bar the last round, Eubank Jr never put enough pressure on Groves to win the fight and, ultimately, he came up short.Groves was a well-deserved unanimous winner of the bout, but many Twitter users were surprised to see Chris Eubank Jr raise his hands after the fight as if he had won.Maybe that's a part of his character, but in his interview after the fight, he did admit that he had underestimated Groves and actually paid tribute to his adversary."Yeah, he's got the heart of a true champion. He did what he had to do. He stuck in there, he did what he had to do, I was catching him with a lot of shots and he didn't give up. So, all credit to him and hopefully we can get a rematch. I think the crowd wants to see another one, so we'll see what happens."

Hopefully, the public sees more of this side of Eubank Jr and less of what his dad has to say.
