Eubank Jr calls out Traux after Groves defeat

During his post-match interview, a disappointed Eubank Jr praised Groves and then raised eyebrows by calling out America’s Caleb Truax.

“I guess I'm out of the tournament but there's a man called Caleb Truax who has a world title so maybe we can get it on and I can fight the winner of the tournament,” Eubank Jr said, per the Daily Mail.

Truax responds to Eubank Jr's call-out on Twitter

Truax is the current IBF super-middleweight champion after recording a shock victory over James DeGale at the Copper Box Arena in December - and the 34-year-old immediately took to Twitter following the surprise call-out.

“Dominated by the WBA champ, only to call out the IBF champ 😂😂😂 Get in line @ChrisEubankJr”

Burn.

Asked if he felt offended or amused after being called out by Eubank Jr, Truax responded: ”Amused 😂😂😂”

Talk about kicking a man when he’s down.

Then, when another Twitter user said: “If you’re that sure you’ll beat him then you surely wouldn’t mind fighting him?”, the American posted: “I'll fight whoever brings in the most money.”

But when another boxing fan replied: “Tbh he would still beat u pretty easily”, Truax responded that he agreed.

A sarcastic tweet, perhaps, but it’s fair to assume that Eubank Jr would be the favourite if a fight was arranged for later this year.
