It was fight that certainly lived up to expectation, as George Groves claimed a famous victory over Chris Eubank Jr. at the Manchester Arena.

The Saint turned in one of the performances of his career, nullifying Eubank from Round 1 and claiming a very convincing victory.

His height - which was discussed rigorously in the build-up - proved decisive, while his world-class jab made sure Eubank had virtually zero opportunities to get inside and hurt him.

Groves now holds the WBA and IBO super-middleweight belts and will face the winner of Callum Smith v Jurgen Braehmer in the final of the World Boxing Super Series.

It was an enthralling night in Manchester, with one of the big talking points coming courtesy of ITV pundit Naseem Hamed.

The former fighter - who boasts an incredible professional record of 36-1 - certainly didn't hold back in his criticism of Eubank in the aftermath, even claiming that he should retire from the sport.

A bit harsh, right? Eubank was certainly outclassed, but so say he should pack in the sport entirely might be a step too far.

Indeed, Groves himself labelled the analysis as 'harsh' when speaking after the fight to iFL TV.

The Saint acknowledged that Eubank must make 'wholesale changes' for the good of his career, but correctly pointed out that he still has a lot to offer the sport.

Fair play to Groves for showing such a sporting nature towards his opponent.

The only negative to come from the fight for the Saint was the shoulder injury he picked up right at the end, suffering a nasty dislocation.

He was taken to the hospital, with fears growing over whether he will be fit for the final on June 2.

Groves has commented on the fears, saying: "That said, 2 June might still work. We haven't had that information yet.

"The shoulder feels great after being put back in place. I'm confident that I will be challenging for the Muhammad Ali trophy. This is going to be my trophy - I want it."

Let's hope he's fit and fighting.
