WBC heavyweight champ Deontay Wilder has been gunning for a crack at WBA, IBO, and IBF heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua for quite some time now.

Wilder is preparing to defend his title against Luis Ortiz next weekend on March 3 from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

Joshua on the other hand has a date with WBO champion Joseph Parker in a unification bout on March 31st at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales. If Wilder beats Ortiz he'll be ringside for Joshua vs. Parker.

He intends to confront the winner of the fight afterwards. This will put a ton of pressure on the winner of the fight to unify with Wilder next.

It's more likely, however, that the winner will instead fight mandatory challenger Alexander Povetkin this summer.

Wilder recently spoke to the media ahead of his fight with Ortiz and said that he has been trying to fight Joshua for two years now. He firmly believes that it's the fight to make in the heavyweight division (quotes via Boxing Scene):

"The big fight is me and Joshua, of course, and that's who I want," said Wilder to Sky Sports. "I've been calling him out for almost two years now.

"A lot of people think this just started, but it didn't, it started years ago."

"I told people to do their research and their history, then they'll come up with the facts instead of the fiction.

"But, I want to unify by all means necessary, whether [Joseph] Parker has it or Anthony [Joshua] has it. It doesn't matter who has it, I want to unify and I can't be clearer than that."

What are your thoughts on Wilder saying that he has been trying to fight Joshua for two years now? Do you think Wilder will get a unification bout with the winner of Josha vs. Parker if he's able to beat Ortiz? And who do you think would win in a potential fight between Wilder and Joshua?
