Very few defences successfully contain both Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi and that was once again the case during Tuesday night's game against Chelsea.

Antonio Conte's side defended valiantly at Stamford Bridge, but as soon as they made one mistake at the back Messi was on hand to punish them.

Andreas Christensen's loose pass across goal was intercepted by Andres Iniesta, who cut back for Messi to wrong foot Thibaut Courtois and place a shot into the bottom corner.

The Argentine's strike cancelled out Willian's opener and secured a 1-1 draw for Barcelona, who head into the second leg as large favourites.

Both Messi and Suarez had to adapt in the second period following a tough opening 45 minutes, as Suarez explained in a post-match interview.

"In these kind of games you have to be smart," said the Uruguayan. "Leo could not create many situations of danger being close to me so he threw himself backwards."

Moments before Messi's goal, Suarez had gone down in Chelsea's box looking for a penalty when Antonio Rudiger appeared to clip his ankles.

Nothing was given and replays showed Suarez might have been just outside of the box.

However, when Messi beat Courtois to make it 1-1, Suarez did something rather hilarious to earn himself a yellow card.

New footage has emerged showing Suarez mocked the linesman by pointing at him, referring to the earlier penalty shout, before celebrating with his teammates.

The referee spotted it, though, and showed the striker a yellow card. Check it out.

SUAREZ TROLLS THE LINESMAN

Typical Suarez. The 31-year-old needs to avoid a second booking in the second leg, which he believes is Barcelona's to lose.

"The result is good, they have to go there to score a goal," added Suarez. "It will not be easy, but we can benefit from that.

"We are stronger at home. They will be forced to score and we will have more space."
