With Manchester United trailing neighbours Manchester City by 16 points in the Premier League title race, chances are Jose Mourinho will dip his toes into the transfer market once again this summer. After being announced as the richest club in the world last month, the Red Devils are bound to have cash to spend in the summer.Furthermore, with speculation surrounding Paul Pogba and his future at the club on top of Michael Carrick's retirement in the neat future, Mourinho might be looking to improve the middle of the park. One man that has settled in well for United since his move last summer is former Chelsea man Nemanja Matic. With Pogba's electrifying early-season form, many fans put it down to the fact that Matic had freed the Frenchman up of the defensive responsibilities that limited his impact last season. However, when the pair of them have had to play in a flat two, the results haven't been as flattering and reports of some tension between Pogba and Mourinho are not what the red half of Manchester wants to hear. However, Matic's latest activity on Instagram has certainly gotten plenty of United fans' pulses racing.Matic has recently started following Lazio's wonderkid Sergej Milinkovic-Savic on Instagram and the soon-to-be 23-year-old has reportedly been a target of Mourinho's for a while.

Reports suggest that Milinkovic-Savic could break the transfer world-record when he finally agrees to leave Lazio and United fans have seen Matic's friendship as a precursor to such a deal.

It's worth noting that Matic is an international teammate of Milinkovic-Savic and, according to a few fans, the midfielder was not the only man Matic followed from his homeland.

Was it just a random following spree? Probably, but it certainly can't hurt United's chances of securing the talented, 6'4" midfielder.

The thing is, with United's vast spending power and Mourinho's ambition for the club, they are more than capable of pulling off this kind of deal and breaking the transfer record in the process.
