Nigel Pearson saluted the 'fabulous' spirit of his Leicester players after a 2-0 home win over 10-man Middlesbrough kept up their fine form heading into their play-off semi-final with Cardiff.

Yann Kermorgant's opener and a late Richie Wellens penalty sealed a fifth successive Coca-Cola Championship win for the Foxes, who were further boosted by the return of top goalscorer Matty Fryatt.

"We've got a good squad ethic and a fabulous spirit," Pearson said. "We are going into the play-offs in good form and we have got some great players available."

He added: "When Fryatt got injured there were questions if he would be available for the rest of the season. But we set a target for him of being fit for the play-offs.He's looked sharp in training and looked good when he came off the bench.

"Cardiff will be tricky opponents, but I'm sure they will give us respect as well. I'm sure both clubs feel they have got enough in their camps to progress."
