We are just around the for this event.

WrestleMania 34 is no doubt the biggest event of the year for the sports entertainment company and make no mistake about it, each and every year, WWE Chairman Vince McMahon pulls out all of the stops to make sure it is the biggest, baddest, epic card of the year.

WrestleMania 34 is set to be held on Sunday, April 8, 2018, at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana.

This event airs on pay-per-view (PPV) and WWE Network and is the most successful and longest-running professional wrestling event in history. Both Raw and SmackDown rosters will be featured.

The match to make for former Universal Champion Kevin Owens is against his arch-rival and now best friend, Sami Zayn.

Owens has been a top player in the WWE since signing with the sports entertainment company, but he has done it as a heel on television.

For a background on Owens, you would have to go back to his early career as he began his career in 2000 at the age of 16. He had a run in Ring of Honor (ROH) from 2007 - 2014 where he wrestled under his real name, Kevin Steen.

He held the ROH World Championship and ROH World Tag Team Championship. He also wrestled on the independent circuit for 14 years, most notably in Pro Wrestling Guerrilla (PWG), where he held the PWG World Championship a record three times, as well as the PWG World Tag Team Championship on three occasions.

Other promotions that he worked for include International Wrestling Syndicate (IWS), where he held three times the IWS World Heavyweight Championship, All American Wrestling (AAW), where he held the AAW Heavyweight Championship, and Combat Zone Wrestling (CZW), where he held the CZW Iron Man Championship.

Owens signed with WWE in 2014 and was placed WWE's developmental branch NXT, where he was a one-time NXT Champion. He was called up to the main roster in May 2015.

During his time thus far under the WWE banner, he has held the Universal Championship once (being the longest-reigning title holder at 188 days), the Intercontinental Championship twice, and the United States Championship three times.

Zayn signed with WWE back in 2013 after finding success on the independent scene under the name El Generico. He alongside former WWE Universal Champion Kevin Owens had some great matches while outside of the WWE bubble and in a WWE ring.

While in WWE’s developmental brand, NXT, he had some classic matches and rivalries that involve Neville and Owens.

His last match under the NXT banner came two years at NXT Takeover: Dallas when he wrestled Shinsuke Nakamura, which marked Nakamura’s NXT debut. babyface while NXT.

The reason that Zayn is the perfect opponent for Owens is due to their ongoing storyline on WWE TV. Once rivals now best friends, Owens turning on Zayn before WrestleMania 34 would be a great way to set up their match at Mania. They have wrestled all over the world including in ROH, PWG and WWE. They always put on great matches so why not showcase it on the biggest stage possible. WrestleMania 34.
