British heavyweight Daniel Dubois has built up quite the reputation since making his professional debut less than a year ago.The 20-year-old recorded his seventh career victory at York Hall on Saturday night, defeating DL Jones in the third round to further enhance his burgeoning reputation.Dubois, a 17-stone giant but modest young man with aspirations of reaching the top of his profession, has won his seven fights in just 12 rounds. Some boxing fans believe the Greenwich-born fighter has the potential to eventually challenge Anthony Joshua and even succeed the 28-year-old as the next British heavyweight superstar.Indeed, Joshua is rumoured to have been dropped by Dubois in sparring.

Not every boxing fan is on the Dubois hype train

However, not everyone is buying into the hype.

There are other boxing fans who believe that Dubois is yet to be properly tested and feel we won’t know until he fights a top-level opponent.

Dubois’s seven career victories have come over Marcus Kelly, Blaise Mendouo, David Howe, Mauricio Barragan, AJ Carter, Dorian Darch and the aforementioned Jones - opponents that any potentially world-class heavyweight should be beating with ease.

Some people accused Dubois of looking slow against Jones and saw little to suggest he could defeat Joshua one day.

Hatton's Twitter activity shows what he thinks about Dubois

Former British boxing star Ricky Hatton was at York Hall on Saturday evening - he trains Nathan Gorman, who was on the same card - and his Twitter activity shows exactly what he thinks about Dubois following the youngster’s latest victory.

Hatton retweeted the following tweet from @davidthewhiter1: “I'm no world beater, I know what I am but Dubois is the most overrated man in British boxing”.

Ouch.

That’s a bit harsh, Ricky.

Dubois can only beat what’s in front of him and, more importantly, he’s still learning and developing.

Hatton isn't the only one with that unpopular opinion

However, Hatton isn’t the only person who holds the unpopular opinion that Dubois might be overrated…
