For the past two years, Tottenham's Dele Alli has won the PFA Young Player of the Year award and become one of the hottest properties in world football in the process.Still only 21-years-old, Alli has attracted the attention of Real Madrid and he has already scored 33 goals in 96 Premier League games from midfield. However, despite all of that success in the early stages of his career, it seems as though the England international is now becoming more synonymous with diving than goals.Alli has accrued three yellow cards in the league for diving thus far in his career - more than anyone else - and he was under the microscope once again on Sunday for his performance against Crystal Palace.Speaking after the game, his manager Mauricio Pochettino came to his defence.“He’s so competitive and played very well but Dele is an easy target. Dele is such a special kid. He’s going to play. He’s going to show his quality. He won’t worry what people are saying about him.”Alli was looking for a penalty at Selhurst Park and got to the ball before Palace goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey, but he was going down before he threw himself into the Welsh stopper. The referee did not award the former MK Dons midfielder a penalty and after watching the event on Match of the Day 2, Alan Shearer made an important point. Watch the clip below:

Only two weeks ago, Shearer blamed Pochettino for enabling Alli's habits and he seems to be doubling down on that point of view.

"We don’t like it here, we don’t want to see it, and we regard it as cheating," Shearer told Coral.

"As far as I’m concerned Pochettino should be ramming it down Dele Alli’s throat that he has to stop it, because that’s the third time he’s been booked for it.

"Alli just hasn’t performed as well this season as last, and so the manager’s focus should be on that. He may have thought his comments would draw attention away from the player, but instead he should be concentrating on getting the player to stop diving.

"There’s no doubt at some point Alli’s actions will cost his team, he’ll be fouled, it should be a penalty, but because of his reputation, his history of diving, he’s not going to get it and when that happen?

"Tottenham will only have themselves to blame."
