The Golden State Warriors extended their good form by beating the Washington Wizards 109-101 on Wednesday night.

The Warriors have now triumphed in seven of their last eight games as Kevin Durant led the scoring on 32 points, backed up by 25 from Stephen Curry.

The Wizards, however, made Golden State work for the win, trailing by only two points by the end of the second quarter, but true to form, the Warriors dug deep in the third to increase their lead to 74-60 and never looked back to the final buzzer.

Meanwhile, Anthony Davis scored 26 points and made 15 rebounds as the New Orleans Pelicans overcame the San Antonio Spurs for their seventh win in a row.

The Spurs have now lost five of their last six games and suffered further disappointment after LaMarcus Aldridge was forced to leave the court with a sprained ankle in the first half.

The injury proved to make all the difference as the Pelicans rallied from a 15-point deficit to secure the 121-116 win.

Kyrie Irving scored 34 points for Boston who scored a season-high 134 points as the Celtics thrashed the Charlotte Hornets 134-106.

Boston took control in the second half and ended the Hornets’ five-game winning streak, with Jaylen Brown adding 15 points and Aron Baynes scoring 12 points for the Celtics.

The Oklahoma City Thunder needed overtime to beat the Dallas Mavericks, with Russell Westbrook securing the 111-110 victory in the dying seconds.

The Mavericks’ Dwight Powell, who made 21 points across the night, forced the game into the extra period with a shot on the buzzer to take the scoreline to 100-100.

But a three-point play from Westbrook, who finished with 30 points, 11 rebounds and seven assists, with only 38 seconds on the clock saw the Thunder move to their second win this week.

Elsewhere, the Detroit Pistons beat the Milwaukee Bucks 110-87, the Toronto Raptors secured their 11th win in 13 games with a 117-104 victory over the Orlando Magic, and the Houston Rockets beat the Los Angeles Clippers 105-92.

The Atlanta Hawks snapped a four-game losing streak, beating the Indiana Pacers 107-102, and the Phoenix Suns got back to winning ways after 10 losses, defeating the Memphis Grizzlies 110-102.
