The subject of Liverpool's next goalkeeping target can never be far from Jurgen Klopp's mind.Although the Reds have kept two clean sheets in their last four league games, those came against Southampton and Huddersfield, who are both among the bottom five clubs for goals scored in the Premier League this season. So, Simon Mignolet or Loris Karius? The latter has been the favoured option recently, starting the last nine in all competitions. The 24-year-old would still not exactly be described as a safe pair of hands, even if he looked much more in control against West Ham.Perhaps Klopp will choose to persevere with him, but the club's pleasing financial results, published on Thursday, will leave fans hoping there is money to invest in a replacement should the manager deem it necessary.Given that Liverpool's stopper has become a problem position for some time, it's vital they get it right next time they dip into the market - that explains a lot about the ridicule Stan Collymore is being exposed to after his comments in his Mirror column.Anfield's former centre-forward has weighed in with his opinion on who Liverpool should sign, and it's safe to say he won't find many fans agreeing with him.

Collymore has stuck his neck out here

"What Liverpool need now is a top quality goalkeeper," he explained.

"When people say what type of goalkeeper, whether young or old, I would say go for one with experience.

"A player like Petr Cech or Joe Hart, who has won the Premier League, can bring that experience into the dressing room.

"Gigi Buffon is talking about retiring at the end of the season. Why not go and make him a megabucks offer?

"An incredible presence, an incredible footballing icon, to walk into another great football club from Juventus and say right I’m going to have two years here.

"I’m going to help bring through the next goalkeeping prodigy at Liverpool, and I’m going to help them win the title.

"What a fitting end to a great career that would be.”

Liverpool fans are baffled

There are a whole host of 'keepers who have been considered, but Buffon, really?!

The Italian is undoubtedly reaching the end of his career and has made a few out-of-character blunders this season. It's also close to unthinkable that he would suddenly quit Juventus and move to Merseyside, especially as he is planning to retire unless the Bianconeri win the Champions League.

The same could be said of Petr Cech, who many Arsenal fans will feel is finished and as for Joe Hart, the England international can't even get a game at West Ham.

It's a big shout from Collymore, but probably not one the Liverpool board are going to listen to.
