There are very few full-backs that have managed to stop Leroy Sane this season.

The 22-year-old has produced some sensational performances to help Pep Guardiola’s side go 16 points clear at the top of the Premier League.

The German earned the Man of the Match award during City’s comfortable 3-0 victory against Arsenal, scoring his 12th goal of the season in all competitions.

And with only teammate Kevin de Bruyne registering more assists in the league than Sane this campaign, it just shows what a wonderful season he’s having.

But are there any defenders that have proved difficult to play against during his two seasons in the Premier League?

LEROY SANE PICKS HIS TOUGHEST OPPONENTS

Well, that question was put to the superstar and, rather unsurprisingly, he picked a current teammate.

“It was before when I was playing against Kyle Walker,” Sane answered when asked about his toughest opponent, per Manchester Evening News.

But Sane also had special praise for another player he faced more recently - and it will certainly interest Manchester United fans.

Man City came within inches of losing their first Premier League match of the season against Crystal Palace on New Years’ Eve with Ederson saving an injury-time penalty from Luka Milivojevic.

Sane suffered a frustrating 90 minutes - thanks to a player on loan from Manchester United.

And it’s fair to say that Sane really rates him.

“And Crystal Palace’s right-back Timothy Fosu-Mensah, I have played against him twice this season, and even last season, he had me really well under control and I told him how happy I was to play against him.”

Brilliant.

It’s great to see Sane has such respect for his opponents - even if they do give him a tough match.

And it goes some way to demonstrate just how talented Fosu-Mensah really is. He’s played 20 matches for Palace in the Premier League this season and looks a very accomplished defender at the tender age of 20.

Jose Mourinho will no doubt be keeping a close eye on him and he will surely be fighting for a first-team place at Old Trafford after the summer.
