Deontay Wilder vs Luis Ortiz was the first highly anticipated heavyweight clash of the year by boxing fans, and it lived up to that expectation. Both boxers went into the fight undefeated, but it was Wilder that walked out of the Barclays Center last night with his record intact.Wilder managed to retain his WBC world heavyweight title on Saturday night when he finished Ortiz with a 10th-round TKO. The Bronze Bomber sent his opponent to the canvas in the fifth round and then twice again in the 10th, but it wasn't all one-sided.Ortiz looked like he could have dethroned and defeated Wilder with a barrage of punches in the seventh and eighth rounds, but the WBC world heavyweight champion managed to survive on both occasions.  However, Wilder managed to respond in the ninth round, and finish the fight by the tenth. Speaking to Boxing Scene, Ortiz said that despite his loss last night, he believes he did enough throughout the fight to warrant himself a clash against Anthony Joshua in the future and that he's ready for the opportunity.Ortiz also stated after the fight that he thinks he was up on the scorecard going into the tenth round, and he also thinks he could have ended The Bronze Bomber if he had a couple more seconds in the round. The Cuban fighter said according to Boxing Scene: "It was a great fight and I performed well. I thought I was up on the scorecard going into the tenth round, but it's heavyweight boxing and you never know what's going to happen.

"I almost had him and I think I would've if there were a few more seconds in the round."Most boxing fans thought this was the case as well. However, the judges for the fight had Wilder up on their scorecards entering the tenth round. Some fans believe Ortiz was winning the fight, and that the judges had a bias towards the WBC world heavyweight champion.

Moving forward, Ortiz and Wilder will now have their eye on Joshua's fight against Joseph Parker at the end of the month and judging how both of them reacted after their own fight finished last night, both fighters will be making a pitch to fight the winner of that clash later this year.
